CHARLOTTE HAIR RESTORATION

PRP HAIR TREATMENT

At our Charlotte hair restoration center, we understand that choosing to undergo hair restoration is a decision with many considerable factors. Some individuals with minor-to-moderate hair loss may not like the idea of choosing surgical hair restorations. Others may be better candidates for non-surgical hair restorations. At Charlotte Hair MD, we offer PRP (platelet-rich plasma) hair restoration, a non-surgical, innovative procedure. PRP hair restoration is effective for patients experiencing androgenic alopecia, a genetic condition that causes hair loss in both men and women.

WHAT IS PRP HAIR RESTORATION?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used for many health benefits for several years. It has been known to treat damaged tendons, tendonitis, arthritis, and muscle and joint pain. Due to advancements in health and science, PRP can now be used for hair restoration in Charlotte.

Our blood is made of two main components: red blood cells and plasma. The plasma contains white blood cells and platelets, which are rich in growth factors. Growth factors signal skin cells to function. For men and women with thinning hair, this is good news because growth factors from PRP hair restoration can help stimulate the activity of hair follicles and promote new hair growth. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a modern and effective treatment for hair loss. PRP hair restoration is scientifically proven in its efficacy in increasing hair count, hair thickness, and the growth phase of the hair cycle.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRP HAIR RESTORATION IN CHARLOTTE COMPARED TO SURGICAL HAIR RESTORATION METHODS?

PRP hair restoration can increase hair count, hair thickness, and the hair growth cycle. Because PRP hair restoration is non-surgical, the recovery time is shorter compared to surgical hair restoration options. While PRP hair restoration can be used for men and women, many women with hair loss decide to choose PRP hair restoration because of its benefits. Shaving the back of the scalp is not required as it is for FUE hair restoration, and surgical scars are avoided.

CAN PRP HAIR RESTORATION IN CHARLOTTE BE USED WITH OTHER HAIR RESTORATION METHODS?

Yes! There are many benefits of using PRP hair restoration with other methods of hair restoration. PRP can aid in the healing process and add even more hair density when used with FUE hair restoration, FUT hair restoration, and more.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY PRP HAIR RESTORATION SESSIONS?

PRP for hair regrowth begins with a standard blood draw from the patient’s arm. The tube of blood is then placed into a machine called a centrifuge, which spins the blood to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The plasma is rich in platelets and is injected into the thinning areas of the scalp. It is a meticulous process. Injections are made approximately every half inch over the area of thinning hair. The entire procedure takes about an hour to complete.

For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are performed once a month for the first four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and results.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PRP HAIR RESTORATION IN CHARLOTTE?

PRP hair restoration can help both men and women experiencing hair loss. PRP is best used for patients with androgenic alopecia, which is a genetically determined type of hair thinning that typically occurs along the top of the head. In women, it appears as a widening part in the center of the scalp, with normal hair thickness in the back of the head. Dr. Marko will meet with you to help decide if PRP is an appropriate hair restoration procedure for your specific needs.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER PRP HAIR RESTORATION?

Following PRP hair restoration, patients usually note decreased hair shedding, followed by early regrowth and increased length of hair. For optimal results, patients may receive treatments every three to six months. This regimen will continue to stimulate the hair-cycle growth factors and stem cells that are associated with regrowth to help stop hair from falling out.

In some cases, we recommend patients consider PRP as part of a multifaceted program to treat hair thinning and hair loss. Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), Rogaine® (Minoxidil), Propecia (Finasteride) in conjunction with PRP can help give you the most benefit.
