WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THE USE OF ROGAINE®?
Like other non-surgical hair loss treatments, Rogaine® is most effective for those in the earlier stages of hair loss. Rogaine® is known to treat thinning hair on the crown, but is not noted to be effective for receding hairlines or balding in the middle of the scalp. Rogaine® isn’t as effective for those in the later stages of hair loss. Later stages of hair loss can typically only be reversed with surgical options due to the hair density needed for proper hair restoration. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ROGAINE® COMPARED TO SURGICAL HAIR RESTORATION OPTIONS?
Rogaine® is often chosen over surgical options because of its ease of use, affordability, and effectiveness in treating the earlier stages of hair loss. Some patients may not want to undergo surgical hair restoration until they have exhausted their non-surgical options. While Rogaine® has shown success in treating hair loss, it may not work for everyone. Dr. Marko can meet with you to determine the best hair restoration option for you.
HOW DO I USE ROGAINE®?
Rogaine® is a topical solution that is simple to use. It is best to start by exposing the section of the scalp where Rogaine® will be applied. Apply Rogaine® to the exposed area and begin massaging the scalp thoroughly. Be careful to apply gently to not damage or break any hair follicles. Rogaine® should be used twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before bed. Results often appear around 4 months of daily use.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF ROGAINE®?
Rogaine® is generally a safe medication to use for hair restoration. Some patients may experience scalp sensitivity, skin dryness, flaking, and irritation, and burning.
