WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LOW-LEVEL LASER THERAPY?
Low-Level Laser Therapy will not work on men or women whose hair loss has progressed to the point where there is smooth skin (baldness), and where no follicles or vellus hairs are present. This makes low-level laser therapy effective for receding hairlines and crowns and parts with thinning hair.
Although women often make ideal candidates for low-level laser therapy hair restoration, men can benefit from LLLT as well. This type of laser hair therapy restores life to miniaturized, vellus hairs by increasing blood flow to the follicle and rescuing it from its final stages before it disappears forever.
Low-level laser therapy works well because it gets to the root of the problem. The hair shaft of vellus hairs, and others, will become thicker and stronger. Once the health of these hairs is improved, they are more able to resist permanent hair loss.*
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY LOW-LEVEL LASER THERAPY SESSIONS?
As with most non-surgical treatments for hair loss, Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) requires a specific protocol to achieve and maintain the improvements. Before the development of portable laser caps, patients underwent an in-office 6-to-12 month program. Patients were required to visit the doctor’s office 2-3 times per week for their laser treatments. The inconvenience often caused patients to not follow the required laser therapy protocol which limited the benefits they were able to obtain.
With the development of advanced low-level laser therapy technology, patients can now purchase a laser cap through our office and achieve the same results as those using in-office laser units. These laser caps are physician-grade lasers. In addition to the laser purchase, every patient is set up with a personalized laser therapy protocol to help ensure maximum success during the laser therapy process.
